Get Your Tickets to Jackman Day at the Toronto Marlies!

Jackman School Council is inviting all Jackman families to attend a special Toronto Marlies game on November 25. You can purchase discounted tickets for just $30 by clicking the link below to print and complete an order form, and paying for your tickets through School Cash Online or by cheque. We’ll have our own special section, and if we’re able to sell at least 125 tickets, two Jackman students will be randomly chosen to drive the Zamboni during intermission! A portion of all ticket sales will go to support families of Rose Avenue Junior Public School who were displaced this summer after a fire at the 650 Parliament Street apartment towers. Come to Jackman’s Annual Harvest Fest on October 26!

Come to Jackman’s Annual Harvest Fest on October 26!

Harvest Fest is a Jackman Public School tradition, where we come together as a community to celebrate our eco-school initiatives, the gardens and the exciting start of a new school year. There will be chili and hotdogs served, baked goods to enjoy, pumpkins to take home for your Halloween festivities, and preloved books and other goods. We’ll have dancing, bobbing for apples and other fun activities. Harvest Fest is a pay-what-you-can event. All donations will go toward covering our event costs and supporting our Field of Dreams initiative.

The 2018 Harvest Fest is Friday October 26th

5:30 – 8:00pm

Stick around for our Clean-Up After Party too!

We need your help to put on this amazing event!

Harvest Fest is a Jackman School Council-led event, but we can’t do it alone. Want to help make Harvest Fest a success? Here are some things we need people to volunteer for:

  • Make some delicious (nut-free) treats for our bake sale
  • Make a crock pot of chilli to share at Harvest Fest
  • Donate books for our pre-loved book sale
  • Donate costumes, sporting and dance gear, skates, boots and other items for our free-cycle tables (donations will be accepted in the school foyer)
  • Volunteer to help sell pumpkins, operate the book sale and free-cycle, serve food, etc.
  • Help us set up and/or clean up on the day of the event
  • Connect us to high school students looking for community volunteer hours!

Monday, October 22 – Make a Scarecrow!

In preparation for Harvest Fest, we will be making scarecrows with classrooms at the front of the school on October 22. Please come out and join in the fun!

Meet Your 2018-2019 Jackman School Council!

Meet Your 2018-2019 Jackman School Council!

Yesterday, Jackman School Council held elections for the 2018-2019 school year. Each TDSB school council is made up of elected parent volunteers, as well as representatives from school staff and administration, and the community. Council’s role is to serve as an important direct link between parents and guardians of Jackman students, the school administration and the wider TDSB community. This year’s elected council includes several returning members as well as new faces, and we’re all eager to meet as many of you as possible and make this a great year. You can view this year’s Jackman School Council here.

Council advises the principal and the TDSB on issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, renovation plans, and criteria for selection of new principals. In addition to regularly attending monthly council meetings, council members also plan and run several fun, community-building activities throughout the year, and fundraise to meet our budgeted needs and goals.

If you’re interested in joining council this year, please let us know. We still have vacant positions for secretary, as well as outdoor environment committee, treasurer and volunteer/social co-chairs. Connect with us at if you want more info or are interested in taking on one of these council roles this year!

Pizza Lunch is This Wednesday – Sign Up to Volunteer!
Our next Jackman Pizza Lunch is this Wednesday, April 11. As always, these lunches are parent-powered, and we can’t do them without the help of parents like you to serve pizza in your children’s classrooms. If you have time to spare this week or over the lunch
hour for any future Pizza Lunch date, you can sign up online to volunteer at
