April 2019 Update

Dear Jackman community,

It’s time for another update on our wonderful Field of Dreams project.  We are thrilled that after many years of persistent work, phase 1 of the revitalization of the schoolyard is scheduled to take place this year!

Phase 1 encompasses the portable area and the transformation due to take place will include the following:

– removal of the fence surrounding the portables

– a complete resurfacing of the asphalt

– a new painted multi-sport court

– a low wooden seat wall

– a new storage unit to hold pop up nets and other play equipment

– two multi coloured four square games

The new multi-sport court provides an opportunity for us to take into account, ways to reduce the urban heat island effect. For the majority of the surface, we are selecting solar-reflective colours that use special technology designed to cool high-traffic areas. These colours help to reduce urban island heat effect and the temperature of asphalt surfaces. They also provide protection against U.V. damage and asphalt degradation, so that the area will look great for many years to come!

While we have raised all the funds needed for phase 1, we still have a long way to go for phase 2. For phase 2 construction to commence in 2020, we have to reach our phase 2 fundraising target by September 2019.  If you’d like to contribute to our Field of Dreams initiative, please click on the red Donate Now button on the right side of this page.

We would like to thank all of you for your generous donations that make this project possible, and for your ongoing support. We will provide another update on the project and our fundraising targets and achievements soon.

Thank you!
